Tell Congress: Protect Clean Energy Investments
In 2022, Congress passed the Inflation Reduction Act – the largest investment in clean energy and climate change mitigation in history. We need your help to protect this progress for public health.
Thanks to the law’s investments, the nation is making progress in reducing emissions. Federal agencies have been issuing grants, updating tax codes and providing support for local communities as mandated by the law. From helping school districts buy electric school buses to helping people upgrade their homes with heat pumps to spurring the production and deployment of clean, renewable energy, the Inflation Reduction Act is making its mark across the country. The 119th Congress must ensure that this progress continues.
As a health professional, you likely feel the impacts of climate change acutely, and know the importance of safeguarding public health from the effects of the changing climate. Please add your name to send a message to this Congress that investments in clean energy and climate change mitigation are health imperatives.

Note to lawmaker:
Dear Senator/Representative:
As health professionals, we’ve seen firsthand how an individual’s environment can influence their health outcomes. Children with asthma are coming into the emergency room because they can’t breathe in summer months when smog levels are highest. Newborns have low birth weight due to neurotoxins that are emitted by the power plant nearby. Families must evacuate when wildfires or flooding strike their neighborhood, leaving lasting mental health impacts.
The health community championed the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act in 2022 because of the benefits we expect to see in our exam rooms, clinics and communities. Investments in clean energy technology, funding for community projects that reduce air pollution and resources to bolster the resiliency of health care systems will improve the health of our patients and communities. Put simply, the investments Congress has made with this law will help safeguard our patients and the communities we serve, and make our jobs more effective and impactful.
We call on you to support the investments made under the Inflation Reduction Act and support policy solutions that will further prioritize health benefits. The health of our country depends on it.
Sincerely,
